Notable 14ers

Charles Currey, PoW winner in 1937 and 1959 and Olympic Silver medallist in the Finn in 1952, died in 2010. He was involved with the development of the first trapeze and used one in the 1938 PoW race. After the war he was involved in setting up Fairey Marine and producing the first true production dinghies. Link to his obituary in the Times

Uffa Fox (1898 - 1873)was the acknowledged father of the planing dinghy. He gave his theories full rein in “Avenger”, which dominated racing in 1928. Biography
